After 10 years the owners of this Noosa retail icon decided to relaunch The Cooking Company image and brand, which required redesigning the face-to-face and virtual shopping experience. As part of this relaunch, John Dunn of IDC Design was commissioned to redesign The Cooking Company retail space plus design its new sister store, Food.
The Cooking Company’s new fit out is modern and bold, with open plan spaces allowing good eye contact between customers and product, plus new lighting that adds clarity and a sense of drama. Sister store Food on the other hand is more classic in design, with subtle French overtones evident through the bold graphics of the wallpapered back wall. A communal table is positioned aside the new balcony to the rear of the store, which offers a full view of the adjacent arcade.
DDB Constructions was nominated as a finalist in the retail category of the 2009 Interior Design Awards for the fit out of this project.
